Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. will ship some 400,000 tires to Chrysler LLC as part of its first major original equipment contract in North America. The company made the announcement at the Kumho Dealer Meeting in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The company will supply the 2009 Dodge Journey with two H- and T-rated sizes of its Solus KH16: P225/65R17 and P225/55R19. The first is a relatively new size; the second is new.
The Dodge Journey is made in Mexico.
According to Vice President of Marketing Rick Brennan, there will be 54 new sizes offered by vehicle manufacturers in 2008.
Kumho estimates it will ship 2.5 million units to vehicle manufacturers in 2009.
