Pomp’s Tire Acquires Cross-Midwest Tire

Green Bay, Wis.-based Pomp’s Tire Service Inc. has expanded southward with the acquisition of Cross-Midwest Tire Co. in Kansas City, Kan.

The transaction closed on Nov. 30, 2016. Financial terms were not released.

Cross-Midwest will retain its name and become a division of Pomp’s Tire.

Pomp’s Tire ranked No. 4 on the Modern Tire Dealer 2016 list of Top 25 commercial tire dealers in the U.S. with 25 commercial outlets and 49 combination commercial/retail stores.

Cross-Midwest has 14 commercial outlets to hold the No. 12 spot on MTD’s Top 25 commercial tire dealer ranking.

There is no overlap between the two companies’ territories.

Pomp’s stores are in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Pomp’s has 13 retread shops. Cross-Midwest has three retread shops and stores in Kansas, Missouri and Illinois.

According to MTD research, the companies’ commercial sales in 2015 totaled $310 million for Pomp’s and $110 million for Cross-Midwest.
