Alan Ockene, former CEO of General Tire & Rubber Co., has passed away; he was 71.
Ockene, a resident of Akron, Ohio, retired from General eight years ago after parent company Continental AG decided to move General to North Carolina.
Prior to joining General Tire, he spent 17 years with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he held several vice president positions.
Ockene is survived by his wife, Patricia, two children, a sister and three grandchildren.
