Daimler Recalls 2017 Freightliner Trucks With Goodyear Tires

Nov. 28, 2016

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2017 Freightliner trucks due to potential tire tread separation following an earlier recall by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

The Freightliner recall affects Cascadia, Business Class M2, and 122SD trucks manufactured Jan. 24, 2016, to Oct. 10, 2016, which are equipped with Goodyear G399A LHS 295/75R22.5 Load Range G tires. Goodyear issued its recall of the tires in September, saying the tires on the affected vehicles may have cured improperly, possibly resulting in a partial tread separation. The recall may affect up to 863 Freightliner trucks, DTNA said.

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Jan. 6, 2017. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-728.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
