Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says its shipments of original equipment and replacement consumer and commercial tires in North America fell below industry levels last month.
According to Goodyear, industry shipments in July for original equipment consumer tires rose 16% over previous year levels, while OE commercial tire shipments grew 30%.
Industry shipments of commercial replacement tires were up 8% from last year's levels, but consumer replacement tire shipments dropped 7%.
Goodyear says its shipments to large wholesalers "continued to improve in July. However, volumes are not yet back to last year's levels, resulting in less-than-favorable brand and product mix for replacement tires."
