Michelin CargoXBib Wins Ag Innovation Award

Nov. 17, 2016

At the Agri-Trade Equipment Expo, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, the CargoXBib from Michelin North America Inc. was named one of the top three industry achievements during the event's 2016 Ag Innovations Awards.

The CargoXBib is Michelin's first Ultraflex Technology tire engineered for trailers and towed machinery. Developed in collaboration with end users and original equipment manufacturers, the tread pattern is designed to provide improved self-cleaning features, greater endurance, better on-road handling and higher-speed transport.

Ultraflex Technology was developed in 2004 and is an innovation that makes the ever-increasing power and weight of today's farm machinery more efficient.

The tire also works with low pressure to help protect the soil by using a large footprint to distribute the load, which helps minimizes rutting. Its round and solid shoulders are designed to limit plant damage. Michelin says it's the only implement tire on the market compatible with Central Tire Inflation Systems (CTIS).

"The agricultural industry relies on continuous innovation that supports profitability, productivity, and safety for farmers," says Mike Pantaleo for Michelin Agriculture in Canada. "Michelin is pleased to receive a 2016 Ag Innovations Award for the CargoXBib, a tire designed to help farmers preserve crop yields, lower fuel consumption, increase tire life, and save time."

The awards are judged by a panel of farmers and industry experts, and are presented each year to companies that have made groundbreaking contributions to moving agriculture forward.
