Pirelli Designs Tires for Acura NSX Type S

Aug. 17, 2021

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S will ride on original equipment tires from Pirelli Tire North America — P Zero tires in size 245/35ZR19 at the front and 305/30ZR20 at the rear.

The tiremaker says it drew on its Formula One racing experience when designing these tires for Acura, and used a virtual modeling process that was created to develop track tires.

For the Acura NSX Type S, the tires feature an asymmetric tread pattern, which provides steering precision and grip in both wet and dry conditions. Pirelli says the use of a rear tire asymmetric mold profile was designed to provide high rear stability.

The tire is built to be stiff and engineered to maximize performance, making it suitable for use on the track as well as the street. The ultra-high performance tread compounds were developed to provide handling and braking performance, while also adhering to the surface in wet and dry conditions. Pirelli compounders added grip enhancers used in motorsport applications to increase the tire's adhesion characteristics.

The Pirelli bespoke P Zero for the NSX Type S has the “H0” marking on the sidewall indicating that it has been specially developed with Acura to enhance the great performance of this supercar.
