March 4, 2022

Bridgestone Americas Inc. has made a minority investment in tire sensor and data management company Tyrata, which supplies Tyrata IntelliTread drive-over tread depth readers.

Terms of the investment have not been disclosed.

In addition to checking tread depth levels, the IntelliTread system can detect irregular wear patterns.

The investment has been designed to accelerate "Bridgestone's efforts to deploy advanced mobility solutions that improve fleet safety, efficiency and sustainability," according to Bridgestone officials.

"Our partnership with Tyrata will allow us to strengthen and expand our portfolio of tire management solutions to fleets of all sizes," notes Brian Goldstine, president of mobility solutions, Bridgestone.

The tire manufacturer's investment "represents a very significant milestone in the validation of Tyrata's technology and business model," says Tyrata CEO Jesko von Windheim.
