Bridgestone Grew Sales, Profit During First Quarter

Bridgestone Corp. achieved a 22.5% year-over-year sales increase and a 5.1% year-over-year operating profit gain during the first three months of 2022. 

In North America, Bridgestone's consolidated sales increased 26% and its consolidated operating profit grew by 13% versus the 1Q 2021.

And in North America, Bridgestone achieved a 115% increase in passenger and light truck tire sales and a 109% increase in TBR sales - all year-over-year.

The company also grew its high rim diameter (18-inch and up) passenger tire sales by 112% versus prior-year levels.

"In the U.S. and Europe, sales remained strong despite a series of price hikes since last year," noted Bridgestone officials, who added that TBR sales were "strong" in both regions "on the back of robust construction and transportation demand."
