Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says it has reached a tentative agreement with the United Steelworkers on a new, four-year master contract covering four plants in the United States.

Two of the plants - Danville, Va., and Topeka, Kan. - manufacture commercial truck tires.

The Topeka plant also builds OTR tires.

Other facilities covered include Goodyear's race tire plant in Akron, Ohio, and a consumer tire plant in Fayetteville, N.C.

The agreement "is subject to a ratification vote by USW members," say Goodyear officials.
