Ag, OTR Tire Production Starts at New Yokohama Plant

Aug. 18, 2022

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s new plant in India has started production ahead of schedule. The facility will build products for the company's Yokohama Off-Highway Tires America Inc. subsidiary.

The plant was originally scheduled to begin production during the first quarter of 2023.

Yokohama Off-Highway Tires has two other plants in India that - together with the new facility - produce Alliance, Galaxy and Primex brand tires.

The division's sales "have been expanding faster than the overall" off-highway tire market, according to Yokohama officials.

In its initial phase, the new plant will have a daily capacity of 69 tons of rubber, which will be boosted to 132 tons during its second manufacturing phase, which will start during the first quarter of 2024.

"Further expansion of the plant's capacity is under consideration."
