Ben Johnson to Present EV Session at ADAPT

Sept. 13, 2022

Ben Johnson, director of product management for Mitchell 1, will present the Lunch & Learn: Electric Vehicles session titled, “EVs Are in Your Future! How Will it Impact Your Shop?” on Sept. 24 during the ADAPT Automotive Technology Summit in Arlington, Texas.

“It’s no longer a question of whether EVs are coming – they’re already here and their numbers are growing,” says Johnson.

“I encourage attendees to join me as I discuss the forecast for electric vehicles, as well as the different types of vehicles, what we have learned so far about real repairs being done, the new systems and technologies that EVs bring to the bay and what all this means for auto repair shops and service technicians.”

Johnson will be part of an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) panel discussion at the summit, where he will highlight opportunities and challenges for auto repair shops dealing with this technology.

“Nearly all new vehicles will have at least one ADAS feature, whether it’s blind spot monitoring, collision braking or adaptive cruise control, so repair shops will need to evolve and obtain the right tools and training to remain competitive,” says Johnson.

“Technicians need ongoing ADAS education to learn how to properly service these vehicles and shop owners need to find the right calibration equipment and software tools, all of which can be quite challenging.”

Johnson maintains several ASE certifications and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers International. He also serves on the Auto Care Association’s Tool & Equipment and Emerging Technologies committees as well as the executive council at the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association Technology Council.
