Hankook Submits Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals

Sept. 22, 2022

Hankook & Co. says it plans to reduce emissions that occur during tire production by 46.2% and emissions generated by its "value chain" by 2030.

"This includes the reduction of all greenhouse gases generated from raw material acquisition, distribution, investment, production and other major business activities," according to Hankook officials.

The Seoul, South Korea-based company recently submitted these objectives to the Science Based Targets Initiative, which is a partnership between the United Nations Global Compact and other groups.

"Hankook Tire has established climate change and sustainability as its core initiatives since 2010 and has been making various efforts to reduce greenhouse gases in the tire production process."
