Pirelli & Cie SpA for the first time has adapted its P Zero Trofeo R tire for use on a SUV — the Lamborghini Urus Performante.
The tire was even used on the Lamborghini in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb — and Pirelli says it recorded a "record time for the category."
The Urus comes with six original equipment size options from Pirelli — in 21-, 22- and 23-inch fitments. The 22-inch P Zero Corsa offers fun on the track, while the 21-inch Scorpion Zero All Season and 22-inch Scorpion Winter tires offer performance in multiple terrains and in low temperatures. The 22-inch P Zero Trofeo R is the newest option, and Pirelli says it's "the most performance-oriented Pirelli tire of all," made for the track but approved for the road.
At the Pikes Peak Hill Climb course in Colorado, with the Lamborghini Urus Performante, Pirelli test driver Simone Faggioli recorded a time of 10 minutes, 32.064 seconds, beating the previous class record of 10 minutes, 49.902 seconds set in 2018.
Pirelli and Lamborghini have been collaborating since 1963.
