Michelin Introduces 55-Ton Haulage Tire as OE on the Volvo A60H

Sept. 28, 2016

Earlier this year, AB Volvo launched the largest articulated dump truck in the world. At MINExpo International 2016, Volvo and Michelin North America Inc. introduced the original equipment tire that fits it.

A size was added to Michelin's existing X-Super Terrain + line to meet demand for the new 55 metric-ton articulated dump trucks for the mine, quarry and construction industries. The tire and size, 800/80R29 E4 TL** (2-star), were displayed on the Volvo A60H in the Volvo booth, No. 10070.

"Volvo’s A60H has the highest payload of any articulated truck on the market and demands tires that can carry the tremendous load," says Jamey Fish, director of earthmover marketing for Michelin North America. "Michelin has designed a tire solution in conjunction with Volvo that offers superior load-carrying capacity, speed, damage resistance and excellent traction for customers.

"This solution is engineered specifically for this machine, not for a scraper or any other type of equipment."

Tested in aggressive conditions on the Michelin proving grounds in Almeria, Spain, the Michelin X-Super Terrain + in size 800/80R29 E4 TL** is the biggest size in the X-Super Terrain + lineup.
