Goodyear Recalls 16,757 Dunlop SP50 Tires

Sept. 12, 2016

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling certain Dunlop SP50 tires, size P205/70R15 95T, manufactured Dec. 2, 2012, to Feb. 1, 2014. During a random test by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the tire tread of one tire chunked off when it was driven at low inflation pressure.

The recall potentially affects 16,757 tires, all produced for the replacement market at the company’s Lawton, Okla. plant. The product code is 263002370 and the U.S. Department of Transportation date range on the tire is M6M0LTER4912 through M6M0LTER0314.

NHTSA says if the tire tread chunks off during low tire inflation, tire failure may result, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA’s campaign number for this recall is 16T-0111.

Goodyear will notify owners, and dealers will replace tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Sept. 15, 2016.

Owners may contact Goodyear customer service at 1-800-592-3267. Owners also may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
