Falken Sponsors Super Chevy Muscle Car Challenge

Aug. 30, 2016

The 2016 Super Chevy Muscle Car Challenge will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 30. The event will be held at the Auto Club Speedway in Southern California.

The sponsor? Falken Tire.

"The event is ideal for pro-touring, an emerging genre of early American muscle cars that have been significantly modified with similar drivetrain and suspension components of modern day sports cars," says Falken. The challenge will feature Falken’s Azenis RT615K, a championship-winning track and street tire.

The RT615K boasts "a progressive rubber compound that offers the grip and traction a high performance sports car demands, allowing vehicles to confidently maintain grip in both street and track," according to the company.

The annual event invites top car builders to participate in a series of performance tests that will use a modern Chevy as the overall baseline. Boasting something for everyone, the builds range from “all out track terrors to daily drivers.”

The challenge is made up of three driving events: The Slalom, The Road Course and The 100-Yard Dash, a "street style" drag race, says Falken. Winners will be chosen based on points awarded during each segment.

The challenge is closed to the public, but fans can follow all the action on facebook.com/Falkentire or @FalkenTire on Twitter.
