Former Bridgestone Executive John Boynton Is Tredroc Tire's New CEO

Aug. 23, 2016

John Boynton has been named chief executive officer of Tredroc Tire Services Inc. The former Bridgestone executive's appointment is effective Sept. 1, 2016.

Boynton will lead the company to be formed by the merger of Tredroc Tire Services with Belle Tire Distributors Inc.’s commercial division and Belleroc Tire Services, a joint venture formed in 2010 by Belle Tire and Tredroc.

The merger was announced Aug. 12 and will be complete by the end of 2016. The merged company will operate under the Tredroc Tire Services name and will be jointly owned by Belle Tire and Tredroc.

Boynton joins Tredroc after an 18-year career with Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC (BATO). Most recently, he served as president of Bridgestone Commercial Solutions (BCS) commercial truck tire division. During his time at BATO and Bandag, Boynton held several management positions, including vice president of sales for BCS.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Boynton to our newly formed organization,” says John Lavelle Sr., founder of Tredroc and vice chairman of the merged company. “We believe he is the perfect addition to our new organization and, as a beacon of leadership in our industry, he is the best candidate to lead us into this new era.”

Don Barnes Jr., owner of Belle Tire and chairman of the new Tredroc, says Boynton is “the best of the best” in the industry. “We have complete confidence in his ability to ensure that this merger is successful for our customers, employees, and suppliers.”

The team appointed to support Boynton includes executives from both Tredroc and Belle Tire.

“John and Don have assembled a great team,” says Boynton. “The talent and experience of our executive team and the entire organization will allow us to move smoothly toward our goal of becoming an effective single-source tire and service solution for our customers across our six-state region.”

The new Tredroc will have locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The Tredroc locations will offer commercial and off-road tires and tire-related products and services. The new joint venture company will be among the largest commercial dealerships in the U.S. with 25 stores and six retread shops. Tredroc will continue as an ISO-certified Bandag retreader with plants in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
