Yokohama promotes new AVS ES100 and Parada Spec-2

July 23, 2002

Yokohama Tire Corp. has introduced two new performance tires -- the AVS ES100 geared for the hard-core driving enthusiast, and the Parada Spec-2 designed for street tuner fans.

Yokohama's AVS ES100 has an aggressive tread design and rubber compounding to deliver wet and dry grip as well as durability, the company says.

Its strong, stable shoulder area has continuous blocks to reduce tread squirm for crisp turning and handling. The stepped shoulder profile eliminates excess heat, reducing rolling resistance and increasing high-speed stability, the company says. Steel sidewall inserts complement the casing design providing control and responsive steering when cornering at high speeds.

The newly developed silica tread compound offers wet and dry grip and remains pliable at low temperatures. "Combined with a heat-resistant base compound, this tire offers a high level of grip, wear and durability. The AVS ES100 is the first tire in the U.S. to incorporate Yokohama's patented Silica Composite Carbon (SCC)," the company says.

Unidirectional tusk grooves and two circumferential center channels help prevent hydroplaning. A rim protector bar provides protection for wheels, and a jointless nylon cap and layered construction keep the footprint in constant shape, says Yokohama.

The AVS ES100 is available in three speed ratings -- H, V and W -- and is available in 14- through 18-inch sizes.

Yokohama's Parada Spec-2 features the company's latest silica compounding technology and a reinforced tread for optimum performance in wet and dry conditions.

Geared for the street tuners who desire plus sizing to enhance the looks of their cars, key sizes of the Parada Spec-2 have a reinforced sidewal construction that allows for more load carrying capability and enhances steering response.

The tread design has massive diagonal tread blocks that maximize grip, and helical long grooves to evacuate water. The low shoulder void increases road contact during hard cornering and lateral acceleration. It also has a rim protector.

This tire is available in 16-, 17-, 18- and 19-inch sizes and comes in 35-, 40- and 45-series aspect ratios with Z-, W- and Y-ratings.
