Michelin Rolls Out More Sizes of Defender LTX M/S

Aug. 5, 2016

The Michelin Defender LTX M/S tire line is expanding with 30 more sizes. Michelin North America Inc. says the tire fits almost 75% of light trucks on the road today.

Released last summer, Michelin says the Defender LTX M/S combines durable tread life and all-weather traction in a single tire that is designed to better meet the higher-torque demands of modern light trucks and SUVs. The company says its EverTread compound helps the tire last 10% longer in severe conditions than its predecessor, the top selling LTX M/S2.

"The expansion of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S with EverTread gives light truck and SUV drivers more options for tire durability and longevity without sacrificing safety and performance," says Stephen Peters, marketing manager for Michelin's light truck tire and recreation division. "Along with shorter wet-stopping distances and improved snow traction for superior handling across conditions, the lower rolling resistance of the Defender LTX M/S will also provide drivers with increased fuel economy over the life of the tire."

The tire is offered in 71 sizes that range from 15-inch to 22-inch rim diameters at a starting retail price of $154.
