Bridgestone/Firestone Americas Holding Inc. (BFAH) and Ford Motor Co. have settled with the family of a California man and girl who were killed in a 2000 roll-over accident.
The accident involved a Firestone tire whose tread separated while running on a Ford Explorer.
Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
"Since the outset, we had been hopeful that we could reach a fair settlement that wold also bring closure to the family following this accident," BFAH officials said in a prepared statement.
"As in many other cases we have resolved out of court, we see this as a reflection of the responsibility we feel for all Bridgestone/Firestone products and the people who use them."
