Omni United (S) Ptd. Ltd. is adding nine sizes to the Renegade R7 M/T. The mud terrain tire is now available in 23 sizes, and is designed to fit most SUVs and light trucks and is suitable for vehicles with lift kits. Another seven sizes are coming in December 2016.
The Renegade R7 M/T is a mud terrain offering from Radar aimed at the serious off-road enthusiast looking for a tire that not only looks rugged and tough but also offers enhanced durability on mud, harsh gravel, and rocks. It's also designed to deliver good traction in deep mud, sand, and snow. This next generation range was launched in September 2015 and is a culmination of several years of research and development preparing for, and competing in the off-road motorsports arena, the company says.
One of the unique features of this tire is the BAJA race-inspired stone-ejector-technology. The tires come with a raised nub between the tread blocks that actively deforms when the tire is rotating, opening, closing, and then releasing as the tire goes through the contact patch. This action helps to eject the stones out of the tread pattern. Omni United engineers modeled the action of stone trapping and drilling, and analyzed the reaction of traditional stone ejectors. They learned that most of the current solutions appear to only add more gauge in the tread groove with no active stone ejection mechanism.
Omni United is positioning this tire to compete in the value segment, and says its 3-ply construction is unique in the segment. The third layer of protection helps to strengthen and stiffen the tire to reduce the risk of punctures in the sidewall and tread areas.
The tire also includes another race-inspired feature: upper shoulder side-biters. The company says they have a functional purpose of delivering added traction in loose surface conditions and also provide a rugged aesthetic.
With the addition of the nine sizes, the range now boasts of 23 outline white letter sizes. The new sizes are: 285/65R18, 275/65R20, 315/60R20, 37X12.50R20, 37X13.50R20, 33X12.50R22, 35X12.50R22, 37X12.50R22, and 37X13.50R22
