Exportadora Firestone de Centro America (EXFISA), a subsidiary of Bridgestone/Firestone de Costa Rica S.A. (BFCR), has announced a $40 million expansion of its San Jose tire manufacturing facilities.
The two-year expansion project will increase production by 8,000 tires a day. The factory will produce primarily passenger tires for export to the U.S. market.
The expansion will increase employment from 600 to 1,000 and will permit the plant to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the company says.
