Brembo Video Highlights Ford GT Race Car Performance

June 9, 2016

Brembo has brought its 41 years of motorsport brake experience to the Ford GT race car that will compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, June 18-19 in Le Mans, France.

Brembo and Ford have been simultaneously developing the Ford GT race car brake package and the production version of the Ford GT. The Ford GT race car hit the track in January at the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona. The new race cars are competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and in 9 days in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Ford Chip Ganassi race team logged the cars first victory last month at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Ford Chip Ganassi driver Joey Hand, Ford Director of Performance Dave Pericak and Brembo performance engineer Mike Messina sat down to talk about the importance of the Brembo brakes on the Ford GT race car and coming consumer model of Ford GT. This interesting video can be viewed at

“It is very exciting to have the Ford GT heading to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with last month’s win already in hand,” said Dan Sandberg, president and chief executive officer, Brembo North America. “With the anniversary of Ford’s first win at Le Mans 50 years ago, this year’s 24 hour race is going to be special. We’ve enjoyed a great working relationship with Ford on the race car and owners of the new Ford GT road car will experience the benefits when it hits the streets in 2017.”
