BKT Builds Big Monster Jam Truck Tire

June 9, 2016

Balkrishna Industries Ltd. has developed a Monster Jam tire for Feld Entertainment Inc. A very big tire -- big enough to withstand a 10,000-pound, 1,500-hp Monster truck falling from 40 feet in the air.

In addition, the tire can complete 70 mph racing passes.

"BKT tires have outperformed all of the other tires we have used before," says Bill Easterly, Feld Entertainment's vice president of operations, who spearheaded the tire development project. Feld Entertainment produces and presents live touring family entertainment experiences.

The tire is 65.3 inches high (5 feet, 5.3 inches) and 43.6 inches wide (3 feet, 7.6 inches).

"BKT tires are lighter, flex better, handle well, give the truck traction needed on the track. With the lighter and more durable tires, Monster Jam trucks see less breakage and increased dependability.”

BKT signed a multi-year agreement to be the official and exclusive tire sponsor of Monster Jam and its fleet of Monster Jam trucks in 2014. More than 100 Monster Jam trucks are using BKT tires.
