Based on Attendance, Reifen 2016 Is a Success

May 27, 2016

Attendance for the 2016 Reifen International Trade Fair just missed surpassing the record 20,000 attendees at Reifen 2014. But it almost reached the 20,000-visitors mark.

A record number of exhibitors were on hand, however. There were 675 exhibitors from 43 countries in Essen, Germany, from May 24-27. The exhibitors included the four largest tire manufacturers in the world: Bridgestone Corp., Groupe Michelin, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., and Continental AG.

The trade fair was "a huge hit with exhibitors and visitors alike," according to Oliver Kuhrt, managing director of Messe Essen. "I am pleased with the exceedingly positive response of many exhibitors, who are already making plans for Reifen 2018 in parallel with Automechanika."

Among countries outside Germany, Italy was the country from which the second-most attendees came, followed by France, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Poland. The largest percentage increase in visitors to the Essen Trade Fair came from Asia.

According to survey responses, close to 80% of exhibitors intend to take part in Reifen 2018. In addition, 90% of the visitors said they are planning to attend Reifen 2018, which will take place in parallel to Automechanika in Frankfurt Sept. 11-15.

Here are more numbers, courtesy of Reifen trade fair organizers:

* 30% of the visitors came from the tire servicing sector.

* 29% came from the tire retail sector.

* 90% of the visitors were decision-makers with responsibility for purchasing/procurement.

All in all, 89% of the trade show visitors gave Reifen 2016 a positive rating, a slight increase compared to the previous event.
