Hercules Tire and Rubber Co. has updated its Roadtour collection with the Hercules Roadtour 655 MRE, a mid-range all-season touring tire.
Compared to its predecessor, the Roadtour 655, Hercules says this tire is designed to offer heightened traction, greater fuel efficiency, increased mileage expectations and a quieter, more comfortable ride.
“We are excited to be able to offer the Roadtour 655 MRE,” says Jedd Emans, vice president of marketing for Hercules. “The original Roadtour 655 has been a bestseller since it came on the market in 2009. We built upon its success with the Roadtour 655 MRE by updating the tread design and making it lighter in weight.
"This tire will offer an excellent ride for an exceptional value – qualities our Roadtour family is known for to consumers and dealers. And, like the original, this tire offers road hazard protection and a great mileage warranty.”
The Hercules Roadtour 655 MRE features:
- thin-gauge siping, which is 33% narrower than standard gauge siping. The micro sipes offer the same flexibility while delivering greater contact with the road for better traction;
- zig-zag siping, a design that creates more biting edges and reduces lateral movement for less sway and improved handling;
- optimized pitch sequence, an updated four-pitch sequence that allows for an increased number of lateral grooves, improving traction without increasing noise levels; and
- enhanced profile shape, an updated profile design that optimizes surface contact with the road for maximum traction and tread life.
The Hercules Roadtour 655 MRE is available in seven new sizes, totaling 31 in all, covering 14- to18-inch rim diameters, and accommodates popular fitments, such as the Toyota Prius and the Chrysler 200.
