Goodyear Tire Notes: Charlotte Education Lottery 200

May 17, 2016

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Race No. 6, N.C. Education Lottery 200
Charlotte Motor Speedway (1.5-mile oval) – Concord, N.C., May 19-20, 2016

Teams in the NASCAR Camping World Truck and Sprint Cup Series will run completely different tire set-ups at Charlotte this week with two new tire codes for Camping World Truck teams. Compared to what was run at Charlotte last year, this left-side code (D-4688) features a construction change (bring into line with other speedways) and a compound change (more grip). Like the 2015 Charlotte tire, this right-side code (D-4694) is a multi-zone tread tire, which features two different compounds on the same tire – one on the inboard two inches (Endurance Zone) and one on the outboard 10 inches (Traction Zone).  The difference from last year is a change to the compound on the outboard (more grip). As on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Charlotte while the air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
