Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. has long had a Falken Wildpeak H/T and a Falken Wildpeak A/T (first the A/T01, then the A/T02, now the A/T3W) available to tire dealers.
At its dealer meeting last October, the company offered up a sneak peek of the Wildpeak M/T along with three other tires ("Falken Rolls Out 4 New Tires; 8 More to Come"). Sumitomo executives officially launched the tires at an ongoing ride-and-drive in Phoenix, Ariz., which began this week.

Today (March 11) we look at the WildPeak M/T, which features the company's proprietary three-ply Duraspec Sidewall Technology. This is the second of our four reports by MTD Editor Bob Ulrich. Stories on the Sincera SN250 A/S (a performance touring tire) and Azenis FK450 A/S (an ultra-high performance all-season tire) will follow.
According to Sumitomo, the new M/T has "exceptional road manners thanks to an optimized variable three-pitch tread pattern and precision manufacturing technology." From a noise standpoint, the tire was very quiet for an M/T tire on the highway, according to Sami Soussi, owner of Tire Depot Co.
The Duraspec Sidewall Technology was developed "to sustain the most punishing off-road conditions, says Sumitomo. In addition to its three-plies, it features two high turn-up plies that provide additional layers of protection and durability.
The Wildpeak M/T i available in 25 LT sizes.
