Feb. 19, 2016

Today Ferrari showed the first images of their new Formula One racer for the coming season, the SF16-H.

The car features a new six-cylinder 1,600 cc engine which has a single turbocharger which will rev to 15,000 rpm. This engine's architecture has been downsized from last year while combustion and cooling performance have been enhanced.

The racer's hybrid power is transmitted through a transmission containing eight forward gears plus reverse.

The carbon-fibre and honeycomb composite chassis with fluids and driver, ready to race, weighs 702 kg. New suspension systems and geometry as well as improved aerodynamics are other performance upgrades built into this car which took 250,000 manufacturing hours to create.

Ferrari team principle Maurizio Arrivabenne stated that his team will be targeting the championship this season with the SF16-H being driven by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
