Jim Smith, the editor of Tire Review magazine since 1999, died unexpectedly at the 2016 Tire Industry Association OTR Conference in San Diego. Modern Tire Dealer will pass along more details as they become available.
Because he died out of state, it may take awhile for arrangements to be finalized. In the meantime, we suggest praying for the family and friends he leaves behind.
Smith and MTD Editor Bob Ulrich had been friends since 1982, before either was in the tire industry. They worked together at MTD from 1985-1988, and often traveled together on tire manufacturer-sponsored trips around the world.
