Boeing selects Bridgestone as 7E7 tire supplier

Dec. 10, 2004

Bridgestone Corp. will be the exclusive tire supplier to Boeing for its new 7E7 Dreamliner.

Each 7E7 will have 10 tires, two for the nose landing gear and four tires on each of the main landing gear. The 7E7´s radial tires feature a new belt structure based on a high-elasticity, high-strength cord that is weight efficient and wear resistant.

"Boeing´s selection of our radial tires for the Dreamliner family is a tremendous honor," says Shoshi Arakawa, Bridgestone´s senior vice president of overseas operations. "We are delighted to contribute to yet another family of Boeing airliners."

Bridgestone also supplies aircraft tires for the Boeing 737, 747-400, 767 and 777 airplanes.

While all 7E7s will be delivered with Bridgestone tires, Boeing says it will certify a second supplier so airlines have a choice when replacing the airplane´s tires.

Launched in April 2004, the fuel-efficient 7E7 is a family of three airplanes designed to serve routes between 3,500 and 8,500 nautical miles.
