Bandag's Carver takes stand in trial against Michelin

May 15, 2002

Bandag Inc. Chairman and CEO Martin Carver took the stand today during the three-day-old Bandag vs. Michelin trial in Des Moines, Iowa.

Michelin North America Inc. (MNA) lawyers also began their cross-examination today, according to mtdealer.com sources.

Bandag and Michelin are finally duking it out in court following litigation that started in September 1999 when Bandag sued Michelin for "inducing dealers" to breach or not renew their contracts with Bandag and jump to MNA's Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. system.

Bandag is still presenting its case. Michelin will do the same when Bandag is done.

The trial is estimated to last six to eight weeks.
