Toyo posts first-half gains vs. last year

Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. reported net income of 2.171 billion yen on sales of 128.1 billion yen for its fiscal 2005 first half ended Sept. 30, 2004. That compares to net income of 864 million yen on sales of 120.05 billion yen for the same period a year ago.

Based on the yen-dollar exhange rate on Sept. 30, 2004, Toyo posted income of $19.7 million on sales of $1.164 billion for the first-half of fiscal 2005.

Operating income, based on yen, rose 220.8%, from 1.893 billion yen in the first half of fiscal 2004 to 4.180 billion yen for the first half of fiscal 2005.
