Former Morrison Tire stores are going Big O

May 10, 2002

The nine Salt Lake City, Utah-area Dick Morrison Tire Co. stores bought by six Big O franchisees last week are being converted to the Big O format, Big O Tires Inc. President John Adams has told mtdealer.com.

The retail shops had operated under Morrison Tire's Grandma's Tire banner.

Five Morrison Tire stores went to Salt Lake City Big O franchisees Mark Buker (three) and Ken Gubler (two).

Franchisees in West Jordan, Orem, and West Valley, Utah, acquired one outlet a piece.

Morrison's flagship store in Salt Lake City, Grandma's Tire & Car Clinic, was picked up by Claude Smith.

Switch-overs should be completed by mid-month, say Big O officials.

Financial details of the transactions have not been revealed.

Adams did not specify if Big O intends to acquire other independent tire dealerships but says the distribution group is "always looking for conversion prospects."
