Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.´s new Kelly Armorsteel KLHA premium linehaul steer tire offers long wear, improved handling and enhanced durability and retreadability, the company says.

It has a wear-resistant tread compound and reinforced belt package fortified with supertensile steel belts. The tire replaces the Armorsteel KLHS steer tire.

"The belt package protects against punctures and tears, increasing the tire´s retreadability," says Donn Kramer, director of commercial tire marketing. "It´s a steer tire that is built to take the punishment of over-the-road hauling and still keep delivering high mileage and handling stability."

Lateral tread grooves improve traction while incorporating a design that promotes extended tread wear. The shoulder rib design includes a pressure distribution groove that decreases initiation of irregular shoulder wear.

According to Kramer, KLHA’s robust internal structure has a "bead area and tire shape that equalize contact pressure for improved wear to removal," he says. "All told, this is a steer tire that will continue to perform through retreads to deliver an overall low cost of ownership tire for our customers."

Kelly KLHA tires are available in four popular standard and low-profile sizes and are manufactured in the company´s Topeka, Kan., and Danville, Va., plants.
