Michelin Americas Truck Tires had added size 315/80R22.5 to its XZY3 truck tire line.
The new size incorporates extended original tread life and a 23/32-inch tread depth, according to Michelin officials.
The XZY3 is designed for mixed on/off-road service. It boasts "an 11% increase in tread volume through a 5% increase in tread width, a 4% increase in tread depth, and a 2% increase in net contact area" compared to the Michelin XZY2.
Michelin says the tire´s new co-extruded tread compound offers extra protection against chipping and scaling while keeping the crown area cool for improved retreadability.
