Goodyear discloses big plans for Dunlop in 2002

May 2, 2002

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s continued integration of the Dunlop brand into its system will be a top priority this year, Goodyear officials announced in a late-morning press conference.

Efforts will include logistics, distribution and order entry computer systems.

"It's been going very smoothly," says Dennis Teed, general marketing manager, Dunlop brand.

Goodyear also intends to focus on expanding Dunlop's retail dealer network and "is making good progress in several markets," according to Teed.

Focusing on key Japanese and European original equipment fitments will be another priority, as will be exploring OE fitment opportunities on domestic vehicles.

"Our OE division is located in Detroit and that has brought a couple of (domestic) opportunities to us," Teed says.

Goodyear unveiled Dunlop's latest offering, the high-performance SP Sport FM901, two weeks ago.

Other new Dunlop tires slated for release later this year include the SP Super Sport RACE, which comes out next month and targets the autocross market, and the Radial Rover RV, an all-terrain light truck product.

More sizes in the Dunlop Sport A2 and Sport 5000 are on the way, too.
