Michelin rolls out airless tire

Groupe Michelin introduced an airless tire at the Paris Auto Show earlier this week.

Michelin officials said the company´s airless tire, called "Tweel," is still in the concept stage.

They hope it will be be ready for mass market consumption in about 10 years.

The non-pneumatic tires are made of elastic and would address severe road conditions.

"Michelin is looking at a variety of future applications," a Michelin North America Inc. spokesperson told moderntiredealer.com.
