A fire broke out yesterday morning at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.´s Akron, Ohio, facility that mixes rubber for production of the company´s racing tires.
Sparks from a rubber mill´s electric motor started the blaze, which caused $50,000 worth of damage, according to a Goodyear spokesman.
Nobody was injured.
The fire "was under control within a half hour. Other than one (damaged) rubber mill, everything else was back up that day."
The mill is expected to be replaced soon.
