NHTSA will extend deadline for comments about tire performance standards

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is accepting feedback on its proposal to establish new, more stringent tire performance requirements through June 5, 2002.

Its original deadline for comments was May 6.

NHTSA wants to apply updated standards to all new tires used on vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less.

Written comments should be submitted to Docket Management, Room PL-401, 400 7th St. SW, Washington, D.C., 20590.
