Goodyear gets aircraft tire grant

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will receive more than $2 million under a recently passed defense appropriations bill to develop new tires for next generation United States Air Force and Navy fighter jets.

Research and development efforts will take place at Goodyear´s tech center in Akron, Ohio.

Goodyear manufactures aircraft tires in Danville, Va., plus Brazil and Thailand.

"This grant underscores Goodyear´s history of aircraft tire innovation and we are proud to have earned the confidence of the U.S. military and the aviation industry," says Joe Gingo, Goodyear executive vice president quality systems & chief technical officer.
