Suspect arrested in Petro's fire

July 14, 2004

Police have arrested and charged a Linton, Ind., man with starting a fire that destroyed a Petro's Tire Sales and Service outlet in the town on July 1.

Charles Schubla has been charged with arson, according to Petro's Tire President Gene Hendricks.

The blaze incinerated 3,200 tires, including "a lot of medium truck and farm tires," he says.

It also destroyed two service trucks, plus a pickup truck and other equipment.

The Linton store employed six people, none of whom were injured.

"We're looking at other properties" to replace the Linton location, says Hendricks.

Petro's Tire has seven outlets in the Indianapolis, Ind., area, plus a retread shop and a warehouse.

Its most recent branch, a store in Bloomington, Ind., opened two months ago.
