The late Oliver Ziegler gave up his job at his father's saloon to open a tire dealership in 1919. Eighty-five years later, Ziegler Tire & Oil Co. is going strong.
To celebrate its anniversary, the second and third generation of Zieglers invited Racecar legend and Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC spokesman Mario Andretti to join them at their Canton (Ohio) Center Mall location today. The outlet is very close to the original outlet, which is still selling tires.
Ziegler Tire is the oldest Firestone dealership in the country. It also offers the Bridgestone, Goodyear, General, Michelin, BFGoodrich, Delta, Kelly and GT USA brands.
Ziegler Tire has 19 retail and commercial outlets, making it the 70th largest independent tire dealers in the United States and Canada, according to Modern Tire Dealer's Top 100 Independent Tire Store Chains list. The company recorded sales of $62 million in 2003.
