Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s Two-Piece OTR Assembly has won the 2004 NorTech Innovation Award.
The award honors companies "that have created, developed and successfully implemented original ideas," according to Goodyear officials.
The Two-Piece Assembly, which finally hit the market last summer after years of development and testing, consists of two parts: a casing and an extra-wide tread belt that can be pulled off after it has been damaged or worn out and then replaced.
It is designed for use on large haul trucks.
