Goodyear stockholders re-elect Gibara to three-year board term

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. stockholders re-elected company Chairman and CEO Sam Gibara to a three-year term on the company's board of directors earlier today.

Also re-elected to three-year board terms are William Hudson, retired president and CEO of AMP Inc., and Martin Walker, retired chairman and CEO of M.A. Hanna Co.

Directors William Butler and Thomas Cruikshank retired from Goodyear's board today.

The Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker's continuing directors include President Robert Keegan, John Breen, Edward Fogarty, Philip Laskawy, Steve Minter, Agnar Pytte, Kathryn Wriston and James Zimmerman.

Also at today's meeting, shareholders passed a proposal requesting that the board take steps to establish annual elections for all directors.

And they approved the re-appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as Goodyear's independent accountants for 2002.

In addition, the board declared a quarterly dividend of 12 cents a share representing an annual rate of 48 cents per share.
