Evans to chair TIA Global Council

May 25, 2004

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has named Anne Evans chairperson of its newly created Global Council.

Evans is CEO and president of Tyres 2000 Ltd., an international tire importer and exporter based in Hebron, Conn., with offices in the United Kingdom.

She also serves as chairman of EER Ltd., a scrap tire recycling export and consulting firm.

"The TIA Global Council will pursue effective solutions for today's global tire industry," says TIA President Larry Morgan.

"In today's world, our product is global by its very nature. Tires made in one country are freely shipped to another for use by original equipment manufacturers and by consumers in the replacement market. Trends set in Japan or Germany or Brazil or Canada are quickly copied around the world."

The Global Council will offer Web and CD-based tire tech training and certification; an Internet-based "marketplace;" events and calendar coordination; and other benefits.

"It is our goal to make the TIA Global Council the 'Voice of the Industry' worldwide by building global communications within the tire industry and by expanding the presence of all of our members in the global marketplace," says Morgan.

Evans also is a TIA director and was the 2003 recipient of the association's Industry Pioneer Award.
