Goodyear honors employees for inventions

May 4, 2004

Goodyear has named 23 of its research and development workers "Inventors of the Year" for 2003.

"You are definitely our celebrities," Goodyear Chairman and CEO Bob Keegan told R&D staffers at an Akron, Ohio, ceremony on April 29.

In total, Goodyear has recognized more than 350 employees who were responsible for more than 260 United States patents and the development of 68 trade secrets last year.

They work at Goodyear's technical centers in Akron, Ohio, and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg.

"New products rebuild our brand strength, they allow us to leverage our distribution, they help us reduce our cost structure and increase our cash flow," says Keegan.
