Toyo announces price increase

Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. will raise prices on consumer and commercial tires up to 4%.

The price hike goes into effect on June 1, 2004.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has announced it will raise prices on its major, associate and private brand consumer tires by up to 5%, depending on product line, on the same date.

June 1 also marks the effective date for price hikes by Continental Tire North America Inc. and Yokohama Tire Corp.

Continental will raise prices on its Continental, General, Semperit and private brand consumer tires from 3% to 5%, while raising prices on its medium truck and OTR tires from 2% to 5%.

Yokohama will boost consumer tire prices by 2% to 5%, while increasing its commercial tire prices by 2% to 4%. Yokohama's OTR tire prices will shoot up 2% to 3%.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says it will raise its tire prices at least 2% on May 1.
