BFNT puts new tires to the test

April 8, 2004

Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) officially introduced three new tires to dealers this week at a "drive and learn" event in Phoenix, Ariz.

They include:

* the Bridgestone Potenza RE050, which is "for ultra-high performance vehicle owners who want comfort and a quiet ride," according to BFNT officials. The tire has been available since February and comes in 39 sizes, ranging from 16 to 19 inches in diameter. Twenty-seven of those sizes are original equipment, including 13 run-flat fitments. The tire is positioned against the Michelin Pilot Sport 2, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso.

* the Bridgestone Potenza G009, an H-rated tire that comes in 25 sizes and ranges from 14 to 17 inches in diameter. It became available this month.

* the Bridgestone Insignia SE200, which is "for value-conscious customers." The tire is available in 29 sizes, ranging from 13 to 16 inches. It already has two OE fitments, one on the Chevy Malibu and another on the Toyota Corolla.

All three products were previewed six months ago at BFNT's dealer meeting, held at the International Tire Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.
